The hot summer days are here; meaning lots more time outside and less time in front of a screen. But this doesn’t mean that there is nothing going on in the world of nutrition and health. Read on for my round-up from the month of July…..

Inspired By….
Kate Granger, was a young doctor and cancer patient. I have been so inspired reading about her contribution to patient care through her ‘Hello, my name is’ campaign. Kate died this month, just 3 days after reaching her £250,000 fundraising goal for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre in Leeds. Take a few moments to read more about her story here.
Blog Envy ….
Weighty Matters is a blog written by Yoni Freedhof, Canadian doctor and obesity expert. If you are interested in a big picture perspective on the health of our population then you will learn a lot here. Here is an abstract from one of his most recent musings that struck a chord with me…. “the food industry will spend 75 times more money trying to get you to buy Coca-Cola, KFC, Cheerios, Dunkin, etc., than the government will be spending on their “MoonShot” to cure cancer”….. crazy right?!
My Highlights of the Month
- Coco’s 5th birthday. She was granted her birthday wish of a pony ride and unicorn cake.
- Alonzo being struck by a motorcycle! Not a ‘highlight’ in a positive sense but this freak accident was a reminder of how our lives can change in an instant, and how blessed we are to be a happy and healthy family unit. He also, miraculously, did not have a scratch or bruise on him!
